Azur Parapente: a story of free flight enthusiasts
Founded in 1996 by Christian Vidal, Azur Parapente is the first paragliding company to be established in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, offering everyone the opportunity to discover the Côte d'Azur by flying a paraglider. Christian Vidal, an engineer by training and a graduate of INSA in Lyon, discovered paragliding in 1986 and immediately became passionate about this discipline.
He became a state-certified instructor of 1st degree paragliding sports instructor (BEES) in 1996 and a trainer of future paragliding instructors from 2002.
Since the creation of Azur Paragliding, Christian Vidal has worked as a professional tandem instructor on the Mont Gros site with the approval of the Roquebrune-Cap-Martin town hall. His motto, "safety and passenger pleasure", illustrates his commitment to offering a safe and enjoyable experience to all. Christian was even chosen by the Thalassa show for a report, where he took journalist Bernard Dussol into the air.
For several years now, Thierry Delorme has taken up the torch, determined to continue the work of Christian Vidal with whom he worked. Passionate about paragliding, Thierry is committed to sharing this passion.
It perpetuates the values of safety, pleasure and excellence which have always characterized Azur Parapente.
By bringing together a team of 7 very high-level instructors around him, he propelled Azur Paragliding to the forefront of paragliding activities on the Côte d'Azur.
Professional DEjeps paragliding graduate responsible for the Check-up paragliding workshop, he guarantees and certifies the quality of paragliding equipment. His experience is recognized by the biggest paragliding brands internationally.
Eco-responsible and committed to protecting the environment
Since 2022, Azur Parapente has been committed to an ECO-Responsible approach.
All members of the Azur Parapente team are passionate about outdoor activities that they practice regularly (mountaineering, parachuting, wingsuit, kitesurfing, wingfoil, etc.).
Whether in the air, on the water or on land, we always stay in touch with nature, which is our playground. It is part of our DNA to respect and protect it. It was therefore natural for us to actively work to make our activity more environmentally friendly, with concrete actions on a daily basis:
- By using light vehicles running on LPG for our travel.
- By organizing group flights with several instructors in order to reduce as much as possible the carbon impact of each flight taken.
- By choosing a meeting place located near the Cap-Martin Roquebrune station, thus facilitating your arrival by train.
- By recycling our paragliding equipment thanks to our partner Checkup-parapente, to give it a second life.
- By acting for the respect and preservation of our flight sites.
- By actively campaigning for respect for areas dedicated to the protection of flora and fauna.
Committing to the environmental cause is essential to Azur Parapente’s values.
This is why we have decided to become a member of the international collective 1% for the Planet by donating 1% of our annual turnover to one or more environmental associations.
