Azur Parapente: a story of passionate free-flight enthusiasts
Founded in 1996 by Christian Vidal, Azur Parapente was the first paragliding company to set up in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, , giving everyone the chance to discover the French Riviera by paraglider. Christian Vidal, an engineer by training and a graduate of INSA Lyon, discovered paragliding in 1986 and immediately fell in love with the sport.
In 1996, he qualified as a state-certified paragliding instructor (BEES), and began training future paragliding instructors in 2002.
Since Azur Parapente was founded, Christian Vidal has worked as a professional tandem paragliding instructor at the Mont Gros site, with the approval of the Roquebrune-Cap-Martin town council. His motto, « passenger safety and enjoyment », reflects his commitment to giving everyone a safe and enjoyable experience. Christian was even selected by the TV show Thalassa for a feature, taking journalist Bernard Dussol up into the sky.
For several years now, Thierry Delorme has carried the torch, determined to continue the work of Christian Vidal, whom he worked with. Passionate about paragliding, Thierry is committed to sharing that passion.
He upholds the values of safety, enjoyment and excellence that have always defined Azur Parapente.
By bringing together a team of 7 top-level instructors, he has made Azur Parapente a leader in paragliding on the French Riviera.
A qualified DEjeps paragliding professional and manager of the Check-up parapente workshop, he ensures and certifies the quality of paragliding equipment. His expertise is recognized by the world’s leading paragliding brands.

Everyone on the Azur Parapente team is passionate about outdoor activities, which they regularly enjoy themselves (mountaineering, skydiving, wingsuit flying, kitesurfing, wingfoiling...).
Whether in the air, on the water or on land, we’re always in touch with nature—it’s our playground. Respecting and protecting it is part of our DNA. So it was only natural for us to take practical steps every day to make our activities more environmentally friendly:
- By using lightweight LPG-powered vehicles for our journeys.
- By organizing group flights with several instructors to minimize the carbon footprint of every flight.
- By choosing a meeting point near the Roquebrune-Cap-Martin train station, making it easy to arrive by train.
- By recycling our paragliding equipment through our partner Checkup-parapente, giving it a second life.
- By respecting and helping preserve our flying sites.
- By actively advocating for the protection of areas dedicated to wildlife and plant life.
Commitment to environmental causes is central to Azur Parapente’s values.
That’s why we decided to join the international 1 % for the Planet network, and now donate 1% of our annual revenue to one or more environmental organizations.
